There is speculation in the media about whether we will see a scaling back of restrictions and the lockdown begin to ease. The question on the minds of many people is ‘will we ever get back to normal?’
As we analyse the current crisis and pursue answers to the issues around us, have we ever given any consideration to our condition spiritually?
Although Covid 19 is a global pandemic, the Bible says, “the whole world is guilty before God” (Romans 3:19), “for there is no difference all have sinned and come short of the glory or standard of God” (Romans 3:23). Sin affects all of humanity, regardless of: gender, race or ethnicity. We do not like to think about our sin and convince ourselves that we are good people no matter the wrong we have committed. We bandage our conscience by giving to charity or attending religious events. However, it does not alter the truth of the Bible, that we are sinners.
In contrast to the world’s leading scientists and, health experts who are searching for a cure, or at least a vaccine for Covid 19. There is only one cure to answer the problem of sin. The Bible tells us that “God demonstrated his love towards us in that while we were still sinners, Chris died for us”(Romans 5:8). The answer to our sin problem is God’s Son, The Lord Jesus Christ. He died on a cross and bore the punishment for sin. The Bible says “who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree” (1 Peter 2:24). Again, “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15) Jesus Christ, the Son of God loved us and died in our place, he was buried and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:4). We cannot in our own ability save ourselves, However, God says, “He who believes on the Son has everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Perhaps you have been too busy with legitimate concerns such as: work, travel, family or even now, with the coronavirus, to think about your spiritual condition. You might tell yourself; I will deal with it tomorrow. Please take heed, the Bible says “behold now is the accepted time, behold now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)
The invitation is to come as you are, believe that Jesus Christ has died for you and will become your Saviour. Be assured you will know peace with God. The conclusion of the matter from the Bible is“whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
