We hope you have received our leaflet and invitation through your letterbox. We are holding two weeks of gospel meetings and reaching out to the Kinross & Milnathort community with the Gospel. We make special effort to do this because Jesus said to His disciples just prior to going back to Heaven after His resurrection "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations" Matthew 28:19. While Christians do go as missionaries to virtually every country on earth, we must also preach at home too. Paul also exhorted Timothy to: "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season" 2 Timothy 4:2. In like manner we also seek to "preach the word", not merely because we are directed to by the Lord, but because we long that others would be able to share with us in the greatest privilege on earth...knowing and serving God, through His blessed Son, Jesus Christ. Christianity is not just about the life hereafter (though that is a vital issue of course)..... it is about the here and now. "This is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent." John 17:3. Dear Neighbour, where do you stand on these things? It is a terrible indictment on our post-modern society that "God" is not a real part of many people's lives. Many have no consciousness of His existence or knowledge that He is interested in them at all. What the prophet Isaiah remarked in |
| 700 BC is very true today: "There is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee" Isaiah 64:7. Have you ever stirred up yourself to take hold of Him? God expects that of us. We are encouraged to "diligently seek him". In Hebrews 11:6 we read, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." |
What is life all about? Just why are we here? Why does the Universe exist? These are not imponderables. There are plain answers to all of them. We just need to know where to look for the answer. We also need to know where not to look. We should NOT be so vain as to assume that the answer can be found as the product of our own imagination, even the imagination of the cleverest of men. Nor should we think that all our scientific discoveries will somehow give us a "theory of everything" as many famous scientists talk about. NO - the answer to ALL these questions and much else besides is to be found in one place, the place where our Maker has revealed everything we really need to know - the Scriptures, that is, the Bible. The Bible is a book (strictly a collection of 66 books), but it is no ordinary book, it is the inspired Word of God. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3:16. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" 2 Peter 1:21. The scriptures provide the answers to all our key questions, questions of: - our existence, where did we come from?
All these questions and much else besides is answered for us in God's Word. Why don't you make a point of coming along to one of our Gospel Meetings over the next couple of weeks? You will be made cordially welcome, but not button-holed in any way. Each meeting will last approximately 45 minutes. |
We would encourage you to come and hear the Word of God explained and for many of these questions to be answered. "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" Romans 10:14. We can assure you that the Word will be faithfully preached. But we would encourage you to search the scriptures yourself, so that you can be sure that what is being said is true. If you do not have a Bible, we would be glad to supply one for your home. Please either call us (at above number), or email (address above) or send in the reply card from the leaflet you have received. If you would like a private conversation with us in your home, please don't hesitate to get in touch. Life is not about accumulating wealth, it won't make you happy, and remember: "We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." 1 Timothy 6:7. "Men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself" Psalm 49:18, but "What shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" Mark 8:36 Don't get caught in the trap of riches. Life is not even about maintaining rude health, beneficial though that is. We cannot live for ever. Moses wrote: "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut of, and we fly away." Psalm 90:10 NO - life is not about such temporal issues as wealth or health. It is this, that we may be discover the "way of salvation" (Acts 16:17) "What must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" Acts 16:30-31. |
